Frequently asked questions
Have a question about pests, treatments or how our service works? You’re not alone. We’re asked similar things every day by homeowners, landlords, farmers and business owners across Stroud, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Cirencester and the surrounding Gloucestershire villages. Below, Chris Tudor Pest Control has answered some of the most common queries to help you understand what to expect – and to make it easier to decide when it’s time to call in a professional.
General questions
Is getting a quote from Chris Tudor Pest Control free?
In many cases, Chris can give you an accurate guide price over the phone after asking a few questions about what you’re seeing or hearing. For more complex issues, such as recurring rats in a loft in Stroud or a large wasp problem in Gloucester or Cheltenham, a site visit may be needed. If a charge applies for a detailed survey, we’ll always explain this clearly upfront so there are no surprises.
What types of pest treatments do you offer?
We deal with a wide range of pests, including rats, mice, wasps, hornets, fleas, bed bugs, ants, moths, flies, carpet beetles, other insects, squirrels, moles, rabbits, foxes and problem birds. We also provide drain surveys, loft cleaning and ongoing pest prevention contracts for businesses. Whether you’re in a cottage near Nailsworth, a farm outside Tetbury, a shop in Dursley or a commercial site in Gloucester, Chris Tudor Pest Control can tailor a treatment plan to your building and environment.
I’ve tried DIY products and they haven’t worked – what can you do differently?
Shop-bought sprays, traps and bait are often weaker than professional products and don’t address the root cause of the problem. Chris uses industry‑approved formulations and has the training to place them safely and effectively. Just as importantly, he will look for entry points, harbourage sites and underlying causes – for example, damaged drains in Cirencester, gaps in roofs in Wotton-under-Edge or nearby food sources in Slimbridge and Frampton-on-Severn – so that you’re far less likely to face the same issue again.
I’ve caught a live pest – what should I do?
If you’ve trapped a rat, mouse, squirrel or other live pest in a property in Stroud, Gloucester, Cheltenham or any of the surrounding villages, contact us straight away. We treat these situations as a priority and will arrange to attend as quickly as possible to deal with the animal humanely and advise on further measures to prevent repeat problems.
Will my neighbours find out I’ve called a pest controller?
Chris Tudor Pest Control operates with complete discretion. Our vehicles are unbranded and we do not discuss your situation with anyone else. In some cases – for example, if a shared wall or adjoining roof in a terrace in Stroud, Fairford or Lechlade is clearly involved – we may recommend you speak to your neighbour so the problem can be tackled on both sides. This is always your choice, and we’ll support you with advice on how best to approach it.
How quickly can you get to me?
We aim to respond as quickly as possible, often offering same‑day or next‑day appointments across Stroud, Stonehouse, Nailsworth, Dursley, Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Cirencester, South Cerney and many surrounding villages. During busy periods, such as peak wasp season in places like Berkeley, Slimbridge, Tetbury and Bourton-on-the-Water, we prioritise urgent issues and will always be honest about availability and timescales.
Do I have to use poisons and traps?
Not always. Chris will talk you through the options available for your situation. For some pests, like rodents, baiting or trapping may be the most effective solution, but we can often combine these with proofing, hygiene improvements and habitat management. For insect problems in homes around Stroud, Gloucester, Cheltenham and Cirencester, we may be able to use targeted treatments that minimise exposure and avoid unnecessary chemicals.
Is pest control safe for my children and pets?
Safety is central to everything we do. Before starting any work, Chris will assess your property, including the presence of children, pets and any vulnerable individuals. Treatments around homes in Chalford, Bussage, Bisley, Painswick, Birdlip, Cranham, South Cerney or Malmesbury are always designed to keep people and pets away from treated areas and products, and we will clearly explain any precautions you should take before and after the visit.
Can you guarantee that the pests won’t come back?
In many situations we can offer treatment guarantees, particularly for issues like wasp nests or one‑off rodent treatments where we can control the whole environment. However, the level of guarantee depends on the type of pest, the property and whether all recommended proofing or follow‑up work is carried out. For example, open drains in Gloucester or food sources on farmland near Tetbury or Kemble may affect the level of control possible. Chris believes in being completely honest, so any guarantees and limitations will be discussed clearly from the outset.
Can I call you again if I’m worried after treatment?
Absolutely. If something is still concerning you after a visit in Stroud, Cirencester, Wotton-under-Edge, Thornbury, Berkeley or anywhere else we cover, just get in touch. There are no call centres – you’ll speak directly to a local pest control professional who knows the area and your type of property. We’re happy to answer follow‑up questions and arrange revisit appointments where needed.
Can you help prepare my commercial property for an inspection?
Yes. We work with a range of commercial clients across Stroud, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Cirencester, Fairford, Lechlade and other Gloucestershire towns, helping them meet audit requirements and demonstrate robust pest management. Chris can carry out a detailed inspection, put in place monitoring and treatment schedules, and provide documentation to support food hygiene or health and safety inspections.
If you have a question that isn’t covered here, or you’re dealing with a pest problem anywhere in our Gloucestershire service area, contact Chris Tudor Pest Control and we’ll be pleased to help.
